Stronger shading agents,
better coatings

A partner to businesses for more than 60 years
Innovative, quality-oriented and personal; that’s how people have been describing Hermadix for more than 60 years now. The company was founded in 1946 and has been based near Aalsmeer and Schiphol ever since. In the early years, horticulturists came to us for all their greenhouse maintenance products. Then, at the end of the 1970s, a separate branch was created for garden centres and DIY stores. Consumers came to know Hermadix as the name behind a range of high-quality paints and stains.

We have been the supplier of shading agents and coatings to the horticultural industry for many years now. Our products help customers to achieve the very best greenhouse climate possible. Customers throughout the world value our innovative, high-quality products and our tailor-made advice. These have been our core values for more than 60 years now.

Innovation in climate optimisation

It’s important for us to optimise the climate in greenhouses. Our experts work hard to develop innovations that can provide our customers with better tailor-made products. Which coating will enable customers to achieve the very best level of diffuse light? How can we further minimise Near Infrared Reflectance (NIR), while also retaining even more PAR growing light at the same time? What is the ideal balance between good agent adhesion and easy agent removal? Our ‘science guys’ in the lab spend many hours researching even better solutions for you.

From the lab to practical application

Innovation is a gradual process. It starts with extensive research at our modern laboratory in Aalsmeer. We then try out new agents at our test locations in Aalsmeer (the Netherlands), Arizona (USA) and Alanya (Turkey). The next step is to test the products in question at field locations throughout the world. We only start to sell a product if we are able to guarantee its result.

Partners

The success of Dutch horticulture is based on cooperation. We do not therefore innovate alone. We work closely with growers, contractors and distributors, so that we can respond to their wishes with our innovations. Important research partners are Wageningen University and Research Center (WUR) and Plant Lighting. This guarantees a scientific and independent approach.
